About Us

Ferndown Community Tours was launched by John Dickson in 2019 with the support of his wife Jean, after organising day trips and trips overseas for over 3 years for other touring companies. Ferndown Community Tours is a member of AGTO (Association of Group Travel Organisers). John has an amazing team of volunteers who keep him on the straight and narrow, get to know the Ferndown Community Tours family below!

John Dickson

South African born John is the driving force behind Ferndown Community Tours, now a spritely 77 he loves being out and about on tours looking after customers and showing everyone a great time!

John has organised tours and overseas trips for over 3 years and has been a huge hit as a tour guide, he is the number one reason our customers keep coming back to us! When asked about his favourite trip he had a few! but decided on 'West Somerset Rail & Dunster' due to its fascinating history and combination of a steam train ride and beautiful castle visit.

Jean Dickson
Coach Assistant

Jean can be found supporting John on the majority of day trips and away tours.  She helps John with our on board drinks service and is always happy to have a natter!

Freddi Colclough

You will find Freddi in the office three days a week, supporting John in our admin department; taking your bookings (and your money!!).

Gordon Bailey

Gordon joined the Ferndown Community Tours family in the summer of 2019. He helps John on the coach serving drinks when Jean is not available.

Dot Colman
Admin Support

Dot is the newest addition to the Ferndown Community Tours team, who joined us in 2021. You will find Dot in the office two days a week, offering admin support to John and you will most likely speak to her if you call on the phone to purchase tickets.

Sam Hickson

Sam is one of the busiest members of our team; as well as running her own events business 'The Little White Heart Company'  she volunteers her time to design all our advertising and itineraries as well as running the website.

You will find her occasionally coming along on trips; her favourite is Longleat festival of light, which is a great opportunity for taking photos and getting in the Christmas mood!
